Our History

Colin and David make a fantastic team.  Not only are they both PADI Course Directors, they are also great friends who share a passion and commitment to training PADI Instructors to be the best in the world.  Colin became a PADI Course Director over 20 years ago and has taught thousands of Instructors.  David qualified as a PADI Course Director in 2015 and since then has thrown himself wholeheartedly into Instructor training.  Both have brilliant reputations in their field and are highly thought of in the industry.

Their paths crossed when David first met Colin in a bar in Gozo, Malta in 2010 and promptly announced he would be opening a dive centre there.  The dive centre, with help and advice from Colin, went from strength to strength and became the first ever PADI Career Development Centre on the island.  During this time they forged an excellent working relationship and their friendship blossomed into the successful partnership they have today.

Colin and David offer a different approach to Instructor training. How? They focus solely on your IDC and conduct all of the training themselves to make sure you achieve the best you can. Their training methods, ideals and desires to teach to the very highest standards are completely in tune with each other. The benefit of this is clearly shown by their fantastic PADI Instructor pass rate.

David Hayler-Montague

PADI Course Director

In 2010 I decided to give up my career in the UK to open Bubbles Dive Centre in Gozo.  I believed that life was too short to be stuck in the rat race, paying into what seemed an ever diminishing pension and working 7 days a week just to have a nice house, a nice car and nice holidays.  There is more to life than that.  Money isn’t everything and a change was in order so I followed my dream culminating in me qualifying as a PADI Course Director in 2015 and Bubbles becoming a Career Development Centre in 2016 teaching people to dive and all the way up to Master Instructor.

Colin Scowcroft

PADI Course Director

I opened my dive centre, FINS in 1995 and qualified as a PADI Course Director in 1999 and am very proud to have become one of the few Platinum Course Directors in the world in recognition of my achievements in Instructor training.  I have taught thousands of PADI Instructors in many countries and have conducted courses in Dutch, French, German, Spanish, Russian and of course English.

To pass on the skills and the joy of being a PADI Instructor and seeing candidates grow into very able and confident individuals ready to introduce the underwater world to people is such a pleasure and honour, there is no other job I’d rather do.
